Q: Car registered under father's name; can I take it if I paid for it?

I'm 17 years old and planning to leave my parents' house soon. I bought a used car with my money, but it's registered under my dad's name. My brother witnessed me paying for it, and I'm listed as a driver on my dad's insurance policy, although he refuses to transfer... View More

You cannot have the title in your name alone unless you are 18. You were a minor when the car was purchased. It does not matter who paid for it. If your dad's name is on the title, he will want the car to be insured. You cannot take the car without your father's permission.

There is no such thing as a "Law and Injury Form," so it is difficult to answer. Your property damage claim is handled entirely separately from your personal injury claim. Before any insurance company will release any money to you for property damage or personal injury, you must... View More

Let's get something clear. When you have an accident, you are either at fault or not at fault. Beyond that, for the purposes of calculating the value of the claim nothing else matters. You could be a nun, driving sisters to a convent or you could be a junkie, with an open bottle of... View More

On your other thing, you probably received a letter from your insurance...

If someone slashed a person's tires and confessed to the victim's mother in the presence of two witnesses, can the confession serve as evidence for an arrest warrant? The confession was not included in the insurance claim, and no legal action has been taken by the victim or their mother yet.
